Skills for Change launches Six Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, supporting the expansion of the Trades sector in Ontario

Toronto, Ontario, April 1, 2022 – We are pleased to announce that through the Government of Ontario’s recent investment of $28 million for pre-apprenticeship training across the province, Skills for Change’s launches six pre-apprenticeship programs on April 1, 2022 to address the Skilled Trades shortage in Canada, and specifically in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area, allowing those interested in the skilled trades to gain experience without pre-requisite experience or knowledge.

Below you can find the specific information on each program:

Pre-Apprenticeship Horticulture Technician Program for Women – Toronto
– This program is for women who have a keen interest in the landscape sector and prepares
women for employment in this sector.
– Partners include Humber College and Landscape Ontario

Pre-Apprenticeship Horticulture Technician Program – Hamilton
– This program is for any persons who have a keen interest in the landscape sector and prepares
persons for employment in this sector.
– Partners include Mohawk College and Landscape Ontario

Pre-Apprenticeship Welding Program – Toronto
– This program is for any persons who have a keen interest in the welding sector and prepares
persons for employment in this sector.
– Partners include Humber College and the Canadian Welding Bureau

Pre-Apprenticeship Welding Program – Hamilton
– This program is for any persons who have a keen interest in the welding sector and prepares
persons for employment in this sector.
– Partners include Mohawk College

Pre-Apprenticeship General Carpentry Program – Toronto
– This program is for any persons who have a keen interest in the carpentry sector and prepares
persons for employment in this sector.
– Partners include Humber College

Pre-Apprenticeship Automotive Technician Services Program – Hamilton
– This program is for any persons who have a keen interest in the automotive technician services
sector and prepares persons for employment in this sector.
– Partners include Mohawk College
