POSITION: Mentoring Sustainability Administrator (Volunteer)
Time Needed: Two days/week for up to three months.
Start Date: June 12, 2023
OVERVIEW OF MENTORING
The Mentoring for Change program provide opportunities for internationally educated profession to make supportive connection with established professions, who are passionate about helping new immigrants settle and advance their career in Canada.
For over 30 years, volunteer mentors have been instrumental in helping Job seeks expand their professional network, strengthen communication skills, build tools for effective job search, and identifies practical settlement resources in the community.
Mentoring Sustainability Administrator (Volunteer)
To assist with the planning and delivery of mentoring activities, as directed by program staff, which may include, but not limited to: Engaging contacts on social media (LinkedIn) to recruit mentors, organizing networking, brief mentoring sessions, and engaging program alumni to participate as mentor.
Mentoring volunteer will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on multiple mentoring activities that would have a meaningful impact on Skills for Change’s ability to carry out its mission to help new immigrants establish themselves in Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in gathering resources and information for the mentoring 30th anniversary
- Monitor social media (LinkedIn) and other networking communications.
- Develop presentations for mentoring monthly events.
- Update mentor’s contact /availability status
- Assist in updating mentoring orientation tools
- Outreach in corporate community to recruit mentors
- Help in preparing for mentoring engagements
- Organize networking and mentor /mentee sessions
- Assist in outreach to current mentors (re-engagement)
- Assist in organizing leadership conversation sessions
- Research and identify organizations who wants to volunteer in the community
- Recruit alumni mentee professionals to help build a network of volunteer mentors
- Assist in Facilitating profession-to-profession networking sessions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong research skills
- Good inter-personal skills and ability to engage a wide range of individuals and organizations
- Excellent ability to juggle multiple priorities while adhering to processes and deadline
- Independent and self-motivated, with the ability to take the initiative in liaising with other departments and/or external resources
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
