GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
With 39 years of operations, Skills for Change is a highly respected non-profit charity with a province wide reputation for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends and lead to employment. We offer a range of accelerated programs including mentoring, employment, settlement, language training together with specialized programs for skilled trades, women, and youth. We have 5 locations across the GTA and serve 16,000 clients annually. We believe we are in the best position to provide thought leadership through evidence-based programming, impact stories and proactive policy advocacy using knowledge mobilization products.
PROGRAM NATURE AND SCOPE:
The support and needs of newcomers is constantly changing. Skills for Change is seeking a Program Marketing Associate who will assist with executing marketing and communications for Skills for Change’s Pre Apprenticeship and Employment Ontario programs and be responsible for supporting the day-to-day program digital marketing. This role will assist with digital communications, events outreach, and pre apprenticeship program support for the Program Marketing team. Reporting to the Manager of an Employer Engagement and Program Marketing, the incumbent will support the organization’s digital marketing and communications for our pre apprenticeship and employment programs and events-related projects. The successful candidate will experience a fast-paced learning environment and will work closely with the Pre-Apprenticeship, Employment Ontario and Program Marketing teams to develop engaging campaigns and strategies to drive client intake for workshops, services, online digital services and other employment and community service coordination needs including web traffic to our employment events and programs for increased registrations.
The ideal candidate has:
- Exceptional digital marketing and teamwork skills
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, drafting skills and familiarity with a range of media communication tools
- Excellent command and use of Information Technology tools relevant to information dissemination and retrieval
- Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity
- Strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills with expertise in web development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the development of marketing tactics for Skills for Change’s Pre-Apprenticeship and Employment Ontario programs including client and employer facing marketing promotions.
- Assist with the analyses of marketing data, including campaign results, conversion rates, and online traffic in order to improve future marketing strategies and campaigns and increased engagement for pre apprenticeship and employment program
- Measure and generate regular report on the performance of all outreaches, marketing metrics and assess impact
- Help develop, execute, and monitor marketing projects across social media, in addition a variety of digital marketing channels
- Collaborate with other internal teams to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives
- Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify new marketing opportunities, gather and analyze customer behavior data in web traffic
- Develop and create marketing materials, such as blog posts and product collateral, and ensure brand guidelines are me
- Write, proofread, and edit creative program content across different digital and print mediums
- Work with external agencies and vendors to execute marketing programs
- Develop, implement, and track marketing programs such as email, social media, or digital campaigns, and events
- Contribute to organizing employment-related events and producing digital content and materials including relevant employment related outreach products (brochures, animations, flyers
- Support online and digital media activities and plans for Skills for Change’s Pre-Apprenticeship and Employment Ontario Programs and other employment services
- Design events and outreach promotional marketing materials for our Pre-Apprenticeship and Employment Ontario programs at Skills for Change
- Generate ideas and present creative options to elevate marketing materials
- Assist with a range of outreach communication materials showcasing Skills for Change’s impact in the community.
- Design update and maintain web content using WordPress and Shopify
- Contribute to tracking and disseminating Skills for Change results to showcase impact through analyzing and presenting targeted outreach strategies including publications, digital and multimedia formats tailored for different audiences
- Ensures the confidentiality and privacy of all client information and maintains appropriate and professional boundaries/relationship
- Participate in team meetings, staff meetings and all other meetings as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Strong all-round written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write and speak in a second language is considered an asset (French, Hindi, Farsi, Yoruba, Swahili, Chinese etc).
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collectively in a diverse and dynamic team environment
- Strong planning and organization skills with ability to prioritize deliverables.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Post-secondary education in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or related area mandatory.
- 3+ years of experience in digital marketing and using web-based tools for communication such as Microsoft Office suite, WordPress, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Sprout (social media management), Google Suite, Zoom, Slack etc. required.
- 3+ years working knowledge of both web development and system administration required.
- 2+ years of experience using audio editing tools and video editing tools such as Final Cut Pro is required
- 2+ years of experience in and knowledge of various marketing and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), and content management systems (Constant Contact) as well as other digital tools like Canva, Eventbrite, Hootsuite mandatory
- 2+ years working experience in program marketing for employment programs for Newcomers, Immigrants and Refugees
- A clear, mandatory vulnerable sector check
