Women’s Programs & Services
In 1982, Skills for Change was founded as a women’s program for a group of women from Southeast Asia. For over 35 years, Skills for Change has proudly served thousands of newcomers and immigrant women with support services such as settlement and employment, skills training, bridging programs, mentoring, language training, and entrepreneurship programs.
Skills for Change is committed to serving women with resources to support their social and economic integration into the Canadian workplace and society.
Counselling & Wellness Services
Women Connecting with Women Program
This program provides immigrant women with access to counselling, support groups, mentoring and life-skills training to support their social, emotional and economic integration into the Canadian society. The program supports multi-barriered women with tools and resources to reduce social isolation, increase self-esteem, increase their networks, and build confidence.
Trades & Pre-Apprenticeship
Horticulture Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Program
A 35-week program that prepares women who are interested in the skilled trades for employment in the landscape sector. The program has 8 weeks of paid placement, academic training, and practical training to assist with obtaining employment. The program is delivered in partnership with Humber College and Landscape Ontario.
Information Technology
Women in Information Technology Program
A 20-week program for women with education and/or experience in the technology sector that provides training in Tech Sales and Accounting Management. The program provides knowledge of professional workplace practices, communications training, mentorship and connects women to employment opportunities.
