Employment and Training Incentives for New Employees


To train employees who will be on your payroll and be paid CPP and EI benefits, we offer employment and training incentives based on the:

  • Complexity of the job 

  • Skill level required for the job 

  • Length of the training, and

  • Skills and experience that the new employee brings.

The Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) for New and Existing Employees


Skills for Change is accepting applications from employers to the COJG grant on a rolling basis. The grant supports workforce development  to train new and existing employees to maintain employment and advance their careers through cost-sharing arrangements between the Ontario government and employers. Employers choose the employees they would like to have trained and the training that meets their workforce development needs.

  • Available to small, medium and large businesses to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees.

  • Up to $10,000 in government support per employee for training costs.

  • Small businesses with 100 or fewer employees contribute 1/6 of the total training costs.

  • Large businesses with 100 or more employees contribute 1/2 of the total training costs.

  • Training must be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer.
