GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
With 38 years of operations, Skills for Change is a highly respected non-profit charity with a province wide reputation for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends and lead to employment. We offer a range of accelerated programs including mentoring, employment, settlement, language training together with specialized programs for skilled trades, women, and youth. We have 5 locations across the GTA and serve 16,000 clients annually. PROGRAM NATURE AND SCOPE:
This is an accelerated training course in Payroll Training with QuickBooks software. This course is designed to learn to calculate taxable earnings, deduct correct statutory withholdings (Income Tax, CPP and EI) and arrive at correct net pay.
Help individuals become a successful Payroll Administrator and QuickBooks Professional. Ensure their understanding both manual and computerized payroll, coupled with a thorough understanding of QuickBooks Premier 2012 at a beginner level. Teach how to calculate taxable earnings, deduct correct statutory withholdings (Income Tax, CPP and EI) and arrive at correct net pay. Help discover how to deal with all the stakeholders involved with payroll – employees, employers, government agencies, insurance and pension companies, workers safety and insurance boards
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver instruction on Payroll compliance legislation (Income Tax, CPP, EI, Employment Standards and Workers Compensation) and how to use QuickBooks.
- Be responsible for the classroom and online setup, which includes setting up computers and instruction material, to include providing online access codes to students.
- Prepare student evaluations to include performance and learning deficiencies.
- Conduct student counseling and recommend corrective action to ensure acceptable student performance.
- Utilize curriculum that reflect the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the course participants
- Develop and maintain an approved program of professional self-development
- Prepare and revise course outlines; develop curriculum; develop alternate delivery systems for courses where appropriate
- Update and assess student learning outcomes; and develop appropriate assessment instruments.
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met
- Provide tutoring and review sessions for students from time-to-time to classroom.
- Utilize curriculum that reflect the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the course participants
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in related fields
- Proficient knowledge of QuickBooks 2018
- Must have at least 2-10yrs Experience in adult teaching/facilitation
- Must be able to work part time as an Income Tax Preparation facilitator
- Demonstrated commitment to professional self-development
- Experience conducting course level assessment of student learning outcomes, and analyzing relevant data, and utilizing the results to improve instruction
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written
- Sensitivity to and understanding of issues of concern to immigrants and refugees.
- Initiative, energy, and persistence in completing assignments
